The Salt River wild horses are mustangs descended from horses brought to the United States all the way back in the 1500's. The 200 mile long Salt River runs through Phoenix, Arizona, and the scenic area for these wild horses is only about a half hour east of Phoenix.
Mustang horses are a hearty breed, and this herd of wild mustang horses along the Salt River are thriving.
