Fix a common English vowel
Fix a common English vowel mistake (revised version)
Learn how to pronounce a confusing vowel sound. /i/ versus /I/ - beat - bit, leave - live.
the /i/ sound as in "beat" "leave" and "feel" is a tense vowel. It requires the tongue to be tense and high in the back. The /i/ sound is a relaxed sound, also called "lax". The tongue is relaxed, not tense, and slightly lower than for the tense /i/ sound. Watch my Russian student, Vera, demonstrate the difference.
