Beating the floor pan of your car with heavy hammers and chisels not only takes more effort than is really needed, it damages the sheet metal. This is the right way to remove sound deadening.
Note: We crushed the dry ice (which came in the form of a brick) using a rubber mallet in a sturdy bag (the one the dry ice came in).
