Use These 14 Ways to Make Your Copywriting Magnetic

The inspiration for these tips comes from Stephen K. Scott's analogy:

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

Steven K Scott's said, "I can make it drink every time; by putting enough salt in the oats."

In copywriting, this 'salt' is curiosity, and I’m focusing here on how to create it using 'blind bullets'.

• Blind bullets are all about sparking curiosity. I categorise them into three types:

Numbers, Names, and 'What's Missing'

Let's start with numbers.

"The two-stage process that gets more customers" or

"Three questions you must answer about your business".

These create intrigue about what those stages or questions could be.

Next up, names.

These are fascinating, like

"The yard method of truly unstoppable persuasion"
or
"The carpet fitter's technique".

They pique your interest about these methods.

The last category is 'what's missing'.

This approach highlights a knowledge gap.

For instance…

"Features and benefits are only two parts of a three-stage process".

Naturally, you're curious about the third part.

My main point is that using these techniques in your copy, whether written or in video, makes it more engaging. It's about sprinkling that 'salt' to keep your audience reading or watching until the very end.

I believe these tips are incredibly useful for making communications more engaging. It's all about igniting that spark of curiosity and maintaining the audience's interest.

I hope you find these insights as valuable as I do in crafting compelling copy.

Remember, it's all about adding that 'salt' to engage your audience.
