This simple edge pattern produces smooth & attractive selvedges on your flat knitting projects, and the fact that the edges are 5 stitches wide makes them very sturdy and stable. Ideal for blankets and for stopping the edges of stockinette stitch curling up.

This selvedge pattern involves the first 5 and last 5 stitches of every row, and if you don't want to interfere with the pattern you will be using between the edges then you would need to add 10 extra stitches to the cast-on total at the start of the project.
I demonstrate adding the edges to both garter stitch and stockinette stitch in the video, but any stitch can be used.

I hope you find it helpful!
