COURSE 3 NUMERICAL MODELING & ANALYSIS TRAINING

Nithil will provide a demonstration of how midas Civil is used to perform a Response Spectrum Analysis for conventional bridges. The following skills will be demonstrated:  

ELASTIC DYNAMIC ANALYSIS

A detailed training demonstration will be done on how to perform Elastic Dynamic Analysis which is required to compute the seismic demand of the bridge. The training will involve various recommendations by the AASHTO LRFD code, the theoretical background and the steps performed in midas Civil to obtain the effect on the bridge during an earthquake. An insight to different options available for elastic dynamic analysis will be discussed.


PUSHOVER ANALYSIS

A detailed training demonstration will be done on how to perform the Pushover Analysis which is required to compute the capacity of the bridge in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD Seismic Design code. The nonlinear behavior of bridge parts will be modeled. Different loading methods in Pushover analysis will be discussed. The capacity curves will be generated and discussed as well.
