Offgrid living, Central Portugal _ 5 dry land permaculture methods _ growing food

Our first attempt to growing food did not work. We tried no dig method, we believe that it did not work because this type of soil(sand and clay) does not allow water to penetrate. By mid July our kitchen garden was dead. After a lot of research we came across Geof Lawton. He says " feed the soil feed the world" With his videos we decided to implement the 5 dry land permaculture methods : compost, mulch, shade, deep bed method, straw bail method.
