Pharmacology- Pharmacology is made up of two main words- ‘Pharma’ + ‘Logy’ in some books there is Pharmakon in the place of Pharma, but to make you better understand we have made little changes. Pharma is related to drug or medicine and logy means- to study. So if we merge these two words together, this will become- PHARMACOLOGY.

Pharmacodynamic- Pharmacodynamic is a study of drug’s effect on the body so we can say it’s a study of- what does DRUG do to the BODY. Let’s illustrate it in a very easy language.

An adverse drug reaction (ADR) can be defined as ‘an appreciably harmful or unpleasant reaction resulting from an intervention related to the use of a medicinal product; adverse effects usually predict hazard from future administration and warrant prevention, or specific treatment, or alteration of the dosage regimen, or withdrawal of the product.

Adverse drug reaction can be classified into following types-
1- Type-A- Augmented Adverse Drug Reaction - This include- (1) Side effect (2) Secondary effect (3) Toxic Effect
2- Type B- Bizarre Adverse Drug Reaction- This include- Allergic reaction and Idiosyncratic reaction.
3- Type C- Chronic use of Adverse Drug Reaction
4- Type D- Delayed Hypersensitivity Adverse Drug Reaction
5- Type E- End of use of Adverse Drug Reaction

Dose-related adverse drug reactions represent an exaggeration of the drug's therapeutic effects. For example, a person taking a drug to reduce high blood pressure may feel dizzy or light-headed if the drug reduces blood pressure too much.
Allergic drug reactions are not dose-related but require prior exposure to a drug. allergic reaction develops when the body's immune system develops an inappropriate reaction to a drug (sometimes referred to as sensitization). After a person is sensitized, later exposures to the drug produce one of several different types of an allergic reaction. Sometimes doctors do a skin test to help predict allergic drug reactions.
