Replacing a broken jean zipper costs just a few pounds and 15 minutes of your time, as opposed to 1,800 gallons of water to grow the cotton, a big carbon footprint shipping the raw cotton or processed denim half way around the world to be manufactured into jeans, often in sweatshop conditions, and then shipped back around the world to be sold for anywhere between £10 and £100! I know which option I prefer - and it means we get to keep that favourite pair of jeans that we have “worn in” to our particular body shape.
