Insect Infestation at Mecca a Sign of Things to Come?

The pilgrims to Mecca were marred by an insect infestation. After a series of heavy rains, hordes of grasshoppers, cockroaches, crickets, locusts, and other critters literally attacked Muslims, forcing them to interrupt prayers, swat away, and tread carefully on mosque carpets so as not to desecrate the purity of their feet. Entomologists cannot yet explain what caused the infestation.
