The rendering of Raga Chayya Nat - Jhanana Jhanana Jhan, Madhyalaya in Teentala— by violinist Kala Ramnath is part of the Young Masters series that brings together the talent of outstanding young musicians from the Hindustani classical tradition. Hailing from a family of musical geniuses such as violin maestros T N Krishnan and N Rajam, Kala Ramnath trained under her father and also her aunt, N Rajam. She is now studying music under Pandit Jasraj of the Mewati gharana, which gives her violin playing an additional vocal dimension. Her technique is a synthesis of immaculate bowing and fingering, coupled with a remarkable command over sur and laya. She displays her prowess in her interpretation of the overwhelming night raga Chhayyanat.
