On September 20, 2011, Disney and James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment announced an exclusive deal to bring the characters and worlds of the hit film Avatar to Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park in Orlando, Fla. The project will begin construction by 2013 to open around 2016, adding a new land to the park themed to the movie's Pandora alien planet.
