Hemophilia disorders are inherited disorders of secondary hemostasis, which lead to a particular clinical presentation due to inadequate fibrin clot formation. Hemophilia A and B are both X-linked recessive conditions, which means men are predominantly affected, although one of the conditions is more common than the other. In this lesson, you will learn what hemophilia A and hemophilia B are, and what the important similarities and differences are between them. The coagulation cascade is also reviewed, and we review where in the pathway hemophilia A and B cause their dysfunction in fibrin clot formation.
