Alicante is the second largest city in the Valencian Autonomous Region (Spain). Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the capital of the province of Alicante and the Alacanti district. Alicante is a famous tourist city.
The city is located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, on a plain crossed by a number of hills and hills. Mount Benacantil, 169 meters high, on which the Castle of Santa Barbara is located, rises above the city and creates the most characteristic view of the city. The city also has Mount Tossal with the Castle of San Fernando, the San Julian ridge and the Grossa ridge, the Garbinet and Tossal de Manises hills. Between them are ravines and gorges, some of which are completely invisible because of the overgrown city, for example, the Canisia, Bon Hevern and San Blas Benalua troughs; others, larger in size, have been converted into canals: La Rambla de las Ovejas and del Juncaret. In the south of the city there is a swampy zone, the Agua Amarga salt marsh.
Along the coastline are the following beaches from north to south: San Juan, La Almadraba, La Albufereta, El Postiguet, Agua Amarga, El Saladar, and also on the island of Tabarca. Between the beaches of La Albufereta and San Juan is the Cape of Cabo de las Huertas with numerous bays: Calabarda, Cantalares, Los Judios, La Palmera.
