I discovered a Loquat tree
I discovered a Loquat tree growing on the property about 3 years ago. The fruit sets in late December through early January here. The fresh picked fruit tastes a little bit like a sour apricot but once cooked down, it is a nice blend of apricot, passionfruit flavor. Loquat trees are sensitive to cold weather but can tolorate temperatures as low as 10 degrees F but the flowers and fruit will die below 27 degrees F. With our crazy winter this year in Georgia, I was blessed with an abundance of fruit. Making jam is a way to extend your enjoyment of so fleeting. Enjoy!
