Golconda Fort  History Guide

This video is about first half of our day 2 of Hyderabad Road-trip, where we explored marvellous Golconda Fort.
This 500 year old fort leaves visitors awestruck with its sophisticated acoustic signal system and overall extent. We have tried to cover comprehensively the history & features of this fort complex in this detailed video. Golconda was also famous for its  world renowned Diamond market and Kollur Diamond Mines, which produced 13 rare diamonds including Kohinoor & Blue Hope. This explains the eminence of Golconda Fort. This fort has seen the rise & fall of Qutub Shahi Dynasty. Fort was built from a mud fort into this impregnable structure by first three Qutub Shahi rulers. It was the greed of a Qutub Shahi Soldier that led to the fall of this impenitrable fortress. He opened the outer gate of fortress, late at night, for the army of Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb's army captured the last Sultan and took him to Daultabad before demolishing most part of this fort. Nizam's were put incharge of this fort, who abandoned this area and shifted to Old Hyderabad City to setup their own Empire. This led to encroachment of the outer 11km perimeter of the fort. After Accession of Hyderabad to India, inner perimeter of Golconda was converted to a monument and opened to public.
