My son's cat Stormy is all white and it's hard to get his muddy paws clean when he gets outside. Stormy will claw you to death if you try to put water on him, but when I use the cage and bathtub method he stays calm, but it's best to start them young, an older cat will go nuts. To help keep them calm keep talking to them. Make the area warm, have a few towels to dry them, and towels on the floor where they can dry. Leave them in a warm room, but not to hot, use a thermostat heater, cover vents if your house is running air conditioning.
