we travelled to Chile to discover more about the National Stadium in Santiago; the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos. Completed in 1938, and renovated in 2009, it was the venue for the 1962 FIFA World Cup Final in which Brazil beat Czechoslovakia 3-1 in front of 70,000 spectators. The stadium, however, was also used for more sinister purposes, following one of the most dramatic periods in Latin American history.
