DC motor with encoder actuating Openbuilds mini mill axis

Wanted to try out a DC servo in place of a stepper motor for linear motion (here actuating OpenBuilds mini mill axis).  
These have an encoder in a feedback loop for accurate positioning, and are very quiet compared to steppers.
