Why electrical transformer rating is
Why electrical transformer rating is given in KVA, not in KW? This is explained, in Hindi in this video tutorial. The reason for the transformer being rated in KVA and not rated in KW is explained in this lecture on electrical engineering.
If only reactive loads like inductors or capacitors are connected to the transformer, then only kVA power flows and KW power flow (except for some loss) will be zero. Still, the transformer will be loaded fully.
