This Brooklyn Tweed knitting tutorial
This Brooklyn Tweed knitting tutorial shows you how to work the Wale Stitch used in our Hazelfern sock pattern. A three-stitch insertion worked every four rows, the Wale Stitch creates a textural column of elongated chevron-shaped stitches.
Working the Wale Stitch works with either a double-wrapped knit (as shown in the video) or a single-wrapped knit (as in the Hazelfern pattern) when working into the stitch from three rows below. A double-wrapped version creates a slightly fuller version of the stitch.
Wale Stitch:
Knit 1, *place R needle through the center of the 3rd stitch below next stitch on L needle, wrap yarn around R needle (in the video, Jared wraps twice) as if to knit, pull loop through to RS and place on R needle, knit 1, place R needle through the same stitch from 3 rounds below, wrap yarn around R needle (in the video, Jared wraps twice), pull loop through to RS and place on R needle, knit 1.
3 stitches have been increased to 5; the increased stitches will be decreased back to a total of 3 stitches on the following round.
