Here's the origin of the ps3 startup sound.

Orchestras tune to A at 440hz. Sony took the various instruments tuning to A and sound engineered it to create that lovely playstation 3 startup sound that brings back so many memories for me. It's probably my favorite playstation startup screen of all time.
