In Hindu mythology 'Ramayan', Ayodhya is the birth place of lord Ram. And hence Hindus claimed that there was a temple of Tam in Ayodhya on which Babri Masjid was built. On December 6, 1992, a large crowd of Hindus known as 'Kar Sevaks' demolished the Babri mosque. Now political parties like BJP and religious groups like VHP, Bajrang Dal and RSS want to built a temple of lord Ram at ' Ram Janmabhoomi'.
Babri masjid demolition case is pending in the Supreme Court.
