Bangladesh has observing drastically growing
Bangladesh has observing drastically growing energy crisis. Far less production can’t meet the current demand. Hence government trying to meet the demand with sustainable energy production. As it one of the most promising source of electricity, nuclear power generation is now time’s solution.
Bangladesh first sought for nuclear power plant in 1961 but political situation for other some reasons it was then not came to fruition. After many decades in 2001 govt. of Bangladesh decided to finalize the National Nuclear Policy. In 2009 Bangladesh and Russia signed a deal to build two reactor within the premises of the Ruppur site in Pabna district.
Russian state-owned Rosatom Corporation currently building the plant. Working on the main reactor setup has been started in this august. The second reactor Rooppur-2’s setup work will commenced in the mid-2018. Two VVER-1200/523 reactors will produce 2.4GWe in combine and 1200MWe separately.
90% financing of the project has been provided by the Russian government as loan and rest 10% paying Govt. of Bangladesh.
