Italy | Patriotic song : "Addio mia bella Addio"

The text of Farewell, my good-bye, was written in March 1848, at the Caffè Castelmur (no longer existing) of via Calzaioli in Florence. Bosi left immediately after as a volunteer of the war of independence, together with other Florentine fighters. The song soon became famous among the volunteers, who began to sing it more often at the time of departure, on the notes of an old Tuscan cantilena.

The popularity of the song always remained high among the volunteer fighters, being sung also in the following years, as for example during the battles of Palestro and San Martino (1859), or during the expedition of the Thousand (1860).
