Leap, and the net will
Leap, and the net will appear!
When I took the leap and became a yoga teacher, I was at a low point in my life. I was deeply unsatisfied in my career, and there was very little passion in how I spent my days, stuck in my cubicle.
Yet, I had spent so much time and effort getting to that point in my career, that the thought of walking away from it all seemed preposterous. Even though I never acted on it, I did seriously consider ending my life.
At that point, the fear of failure lost its grip on me. I thought to myself “What have I got to lose?” And so, I set out to become a yoga teacher and wellness expert. That’s how I wanted to spend my days. I had no Plan B. I did not care about the consequences. I guess you can say, I put it all in god’s hands.
Now, don’t go out and do anything without considering the consequences. But, practice having faith at least in your instincts, in those gut feelings that you have, in that voice of intuition.
Teaching Tip
Take care not to impose your belief systems on your students. Try to approach the subject of faith in broad concepts vs. rigid dogmatism. Particularly, when what you believe to be true, can never be physically proven.
Allow others their opinions without taking offense with disagreement.
For your own clarity and development on this topic, journal the following items:
1. Try to remember a time when you felt awestruck by the beauty of nature. Can you put pen to paper, and write a few sentences about those feelings? Write about both physical sensory perceptions, and deeper emotional feelings of that experience.
2. Did anything amazing ever happen to you by chance? Perhaps it's something that saved your life, or that gave you immense joy. Contemplate if it was pure luck, or if there was divine intervention. Either one is fine, just consider both possibilities.
