This is a review for
This is a review for From Software's Elden Ring.
But more than that, it's an exhaustive look at how some of the returning game design philosophies, mechanics and such fare in the new open world format.
I'd argue (and do in the video) that the Demon's Souls experience (which the Dark Souls games, Bloodborne and Sekiro are all built on) is fundamentally and above all else excellent for third person dungeon crawling.
Seeing it utilized for an Open World game has certainly made me re-evaluate some pre-conceived notions I had about what Open World games can do, but I'm also seeing a lot of growing pains and I don't think the game managed to perfectly walk the tightrope of being open world, while also being a dungeon crawler.
