EMD BL2: A Streamlined Branchline Diesel

Electro-Motive Division's BL2 is quite the unique little diesel. It was EMD's first attempt at a road-switcher, competing with ALCO, Baldwin, and Fairbanks-Morse. It's not very well known compared to others, but the impact it had on EMD was actually quite significant. This branchline locomotive, while unpopular with the railroads, proved to be a stepping stone to something far greater and successful in diesel locomotive production.
