Review (positive): Philips X-tremeVision white LED bulb in festoon format. This design is identical in size and shape to filament types, but has a single chip mounted laterally and projecting light in one direction only.

This seems to be intended to replace 5 W filament bulbs although in the 43 mm size tested, 10 W originals are common, and as demonstrated it is slightly brighter than a 10 W incandescent - despite its lower-than-claimed tested wattage.
The one-sided configuration means it will give the greatest brightness difference when installed in light enclosures without a reflector, although it works adequately anywhere. Available in 4000 K "warm" (more of a neutral pure white) or 6000 K "cool" (i.e. blue). For interior lighting I believe the former is preferable.
Reviewed characteristics include the bulbs' design, power, color, and comparative brightness.
