How to install Linux Mint Tara on a Chromebook!

This video is about how you can install Linux on to your Chromebook. The version of Linux mint specifically is: Linux Mint 19 Tara Cinnamon Edition. Find Linux Mint here: https://linuxmint.com/download.php
To begin the installation follow these steps carefully and watch the video.
1. Enable Developer Mode:
With your Chromebook turned off, hold down ESC + REFRESH and press POWER.
2. When you see the message “Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Please insert a recovery USB stick or SD card”.
Press CTRL + D
3. Now you see the message “To turn OS verification OFF, press ENTER. Your system will reboot and local data will be cleared. To go back, press ESC.”
Press ENTER
4. Now it will say “OS verification is OFF Press SPACE to re-enable.”
Press CTRL + D
5. It will say: “Your system is transitioning to Developer Mode.
Local data has been cleared.
Modifications you make to the system are not supported by Google, may cause hardware issues and may voide warranty. To cancel, turn your computer off now.”
Preparing system for Developer Mode. This may take a while. Do not turn your computer off until it has restarted.
These messages are normal, you can see progress in the top right corner.
6. Now it will say: OS verification is OFF, Press SPACE to re-enable.
Your Chromebook is now in Developer Mode
Press CTRL + D
7. At the Chrome Welcome Screen Go through the Chrome OS Setup Steps Again.
8. Once you are on the Desktop press CTRL + ALT +T
9. Type in SHELL and press ENTER
10. Copy and paste the following command:
cd; rm -f flash_chromebook_rom.sh; curl -0 https://johnlewis.ie/flash_chromebook... sudo -E bash flash_chromebook_rom.sh
or if this is not working try typing manually this command here:
cd;bash (smallerthensign) (curl https://johnlewis.ie/flash_cb_fw.sh)
11. Press ENTER again.
You will be presented with 3 options: choose option 1 MODIFY MY CHROMEBOOK’S RW_LEGACY SLOT OPTION and press ENTER.
12. Now type in the text exactly as you see it.
Congratulations you just modified the BIOS
13. type SUDO REBOOT and press ENTER to reboot.
14. ENABLE USB BOOT:
Now it will say “OS verification is OFF Press SPACE to re-enable.”
Press CTRL + D
15. Press CTRL + ALT + F2 at the Chrome OS login screen.
Now you will see the Developer Console
16. You are going to login now by typing the word: CHRONOS and press ENTER
17. Now type in the following command and press ENTER:
SUDO CROSSYSTEM DEV_BOOT_USB=1 DEV_BOOT_LEGACY=1
18. Now insert the source USB stick which is in our case Linux Mint USBSTICK onto your Chromebook, then prepare an empty SDCARD and insert that into the SdcardSLOT which is in our example a 16GB SDCARD with TOSHIBA ADAPTER.
19. then type in
SUDO REBOOT
20. the system will reboot and
Now it will say “OS verification is OFF Press SPACE to re-enable.”
Press CTRL + L to boot into the BIOS SCREEN
21. Choose the SOURCE USB LINUX DRIVE which is in our example
In this example it is option 1, so choose 1 and Press Enter.
Now install Linux Mint. Choose for “SOMETHING ELSE” and install it on the 16GB DESTINATION SDCARD. Make a SWAP Partition of 4096MB (4GB) and asign the remaining space to a EXT4 ROOT partition! Follow the instructions in the video.
