As I said in my last update, VEVOR customer support told me an engineer would be reviewing my issue and getting back to me (I had heard that standard line before).

Imagine my surprise when I checked email this morning and there was an update from VEVOR that said they made a video (maybe they were getting tired of my videos/links I was sending them ;-) and to watch the video on how to remove the spindle bore.

Things are always much easier (or more accurately less difficult) once you know how to do them!  Since the engineer was demonstrating the removal of the spindle bore on a lathe that was not damaged, it looked quick and simple, a couple of seemingly light taps with a large dowel and the spindle pops right out.

Ummm, as you'll see with what I show, due to what happened with my spindle bore I had plenty of magnetic chunks in my way to make things a bit more challenging.  But, I did get the spindle out.  The "magnetic meltdown" took quite a bit of time to remove as I don't think I would have been able to install the new spindle (too tight/gritty or possibly a complete show stopper) in present "condition".

After initially installing the spindle, things didn't feel too smooth, but I attributed that to the fact not all the parts were yet installed.  After all the collars, gears and rings were gently but firmly tapped into place things felt very smooth, like day one.

Then it was time to turn things on.  I'll let you see that.

I was AMAZED at the spindle bore runout I digitally measured at the end of the video due to all the tapping on the bore.  WOW is an understatement.  I also digitally measured the runout best mounting holes for the chuck.

Success!  So ultimately, this was a customer serviceable process once I knew what I was doing and how I was supposed to do it.  VEVOR came through with parts, communication and ultimately technical support in honoring their warranty.  I'm no longer looking for a lathe replacement and if/when this happens again (me thinks likely) I'll know exactly what to do.  Now that I've documented it so will everyone else!
