Evil of Wishes | Madoka Magica Anime Discussion

Madoka Magica is another twisted top 10 anime from Gen Urobuchi, one that has a message rooted in realism; sometimes, dreams have to die. Puella Magi Madoka Magica accomplishes this hefty task through it's title character, as well as Sayaka, Mami, Homura, and Kyoko, as they each make wishes, and open their eyes to the cost that comes with them. Some of this is Kyubey's doing, while some is their own wishful thinking on the frontier of desire. They really just want happiness, but in the limited training of humanity, they all fail. Sayaka bleached the truth of her situation, Mami tried to rid herself of cost, Homura refused to accept loss over what could have been a thousand years if she wanted, and Kyoko learned that the "how" of a wish is just as important as the "what." Together, they all simulate what's likely a top 5 message in all of anime.
