An African buffalo has an infection lanced and drained by veterinarians in the Masai Mara region of Kenya.
African buffalo may harbor diseases that can be transmitted to domesticated livestock such as foot-and-mouth, theileriosis, and bovine tuberculosis. It is therefore critical for wildlife vets to treat any infections immediately.
Filmed by Brian Heath, executive director of the Mara Conservancy, a non-profit Kenyan organization responsible for managing the Mara Triangle of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Brian's intimate knowledge of the Mara has allowed him to capture some of the most compelling African wildlife videos.
