The NHL obviously isn’t going to surpass the NFL in terms of popularity anytime soon, but it’s sure gaining some ground on the NBA and MLB.

The NHL had begun seeing some major growth since the end of the 2004-05 lockout, thanks in large part to these multi-billion dollar TV contracts and the rise of superstars like Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin.

But every sports fan knows there is nothing more exciting than the playoffs. And without a doubt, the NHL is the best postseason tournament of them all. So why doesn’t it get as much love as the other sports? If you’re guilty of not giving the NHL playoffs too much attention, we hope to change your mind with this list.
