What is the average salary of an anesthesiologist?
What is the job market like for anesthesiologists? Would it be hard for you to get a job?
Would this occupation be compatible with your personality and interests?
Would you not regret being an anesthesiologist?
Let's get started.

According to the Medscape Physician Compensation Report, anesthesiologists' average annual compensation was $398,000 in 2020. Those in the fields of outearned those who specialize in anesthesiology

In 2019, anesthesiologists had a base salary of $261,730. That was $137,950 more than the amount anesthesiologists had received in 1999.

In 2020, the annual compensation of anesthesiologists was $398,000. Around 68% of that was the base salary, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It was found that anesthesiologists had a base salary of $268,299 in 2020.

Anesthesiologists are expected to earn more in the coming years. In fact, it was predicted that they would earn $327,420 in 2029. That's $59,121 more than the amount they received in 2020.

Based on the data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 31,010 anesthesiologists in 2019. That's 5,100 more than the 25,910 in 1999.

A significant decrease had occurred from 2009 through 2012, where the number of anesthesiologists went from 37,450 to 29,930.

Even though there hasn't been a significant increase in the number of anesthesiologists from 2012 up to the present, anesthesiologists are still becoming more, so that's a good thing.

And if the growth trend were to continue, there would be 33,439 anesthesiologists in 2029. That's 2,429 more than the number of anesthesiologists in 2019.

Anesthesiologists are medical doctors, so there's a need to finish a medical degree to become one. A medical degree isn't easy to obtain, but some people would choose to be in the field of medicine again if they were given a chance to go back in time.

Based on the data presented by the Medscape Physician Compensation Report, in general, more than 60% of the physicians don't regret the path they took.

75% of the anesthesiologists, specifically, would choose to be a physician again, but not necessarily as anesthesiologists.

Of those anesthesiologists who have no regrets about being in the medical field, 11% would change their specialty if given a chance, while 89% of them are happy with their choice.
