The Crankshaft Position Sensor or Engine Speed Sensor detects RPM and reference marks. Without an engine speed signal, the engine will not start. If the engine speed signal fails while the engine is running, the engine will stop immediately.

A bad or malfunctioning engine speed sensor or connector can trigger the following codes. I got one of them and almost got stranded. In this video I showed how to access this famous sensor.

P000D - Intake (B) Camshaft Position Slow Response Bank 2.
P0335 or VAG Code 16719 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (A) CircuitG28 Malfunction.
P0336 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (A) CircuitG28 Range/Performance.
P0727 or VAG Code 17111 - Engine Speed Input Circuit No Signal.
P0741 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off.
P0321 or VAG Code 16705 - Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Range/Performance.
