We present and explain the model of the cultural iceberg. Edward T. Hall and Gary Weaver laid the foundation for this metaphor. The iceberg has two parts. About 10-20% are above the water and can be seen but the other 80-90% are below the water level and cannot be seen. Culture is also viewed in two layers, a visible and an invisible. The visible layer represents cultural elements like food, dress, language, and invisible layer represents values, perceptions, beliefs which can not be recognized very easily.
