The Osmo 3 Action is a small, lightweight camera designed for mounting and features a detachable clip system that is compatible with GoPro mounts. It can be easily moved between mounting points with the use of thumb screws. This camera is waterproof up to a depth of 52 feet, has a metal frame and Gorilla Glass lens protection, and is rated to withstand drops from 4.9 feet. The Osmo 3 has a simple interface with just two buttons, Power/Mode and Record, and utilizes touch screen settings and voice commands. It has a long battery life of approximately 75 minutes of recording at 4K60 without overheating. The Osmo 3 can be charged directly through its USB-C charging port, and for extended recording times, the Adventure Kit with three additional batteries and a charging case is available for purchase.
The interface is pretty simple. The Osmo only has two buttons—Power/Mode on its side and Record on the top. The touch screens are used to adjust the rest of the settings. The interface is pretty intuitive, with visible icons for resolution and frame rate changes, and swipe gestures to change between recording, playback, and menus. Voice commands work too, so you can say Start Recording or Stop Recording to control the camera.
The Osmo Action 3's battery gets about 75 minutes of record time at 4K60, a very good result for an action cam. What's better is that it manages to go that long without overheating—during our battery run-down test, the screen turned itself off about 55 minutes and warned that the camera was hot, but continued to roll until the battery exhausted about 20 minutes later.
You can charge the battery in-camera directly; the Osmo has a USB-C charging port. If you're after extended record times, consider the Adventure Kit for 38500, which includes the camera, three batteries, and a USB-C case that holds and charges three batteries at a time.
