Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Would like to welcome you to the back of my property down by my garden on this beautiful day. Today we will be harvesting goldenrod to make a tea. My goldenrod is organically grown and apparently self-seeded here on my property which I am very thankful for.

It is truly amazing how many health benefits goldenrod possesses. It is saddening how it gets a bad reputation due to misinformation. So many believe that they are allergic to it and  it's been proven that it is ragweed's fault for the allergies in the fall. So let's delve into some of the many healing benefits of this beautiful plant known as goldenrod.

It has been proven by many studies that goldenrod is a strengthner of the urinary tract as well as your bladder and kidneys. It strengthens and tones the inner walls of your bladder and kidney. Due to its healing benefits goldenrod is the number one medicinal plant to use for UTI infections. It is also well known and studied how it has the ability to dissolve kidney stones as well as to cause them to flush out of the system. It is the leading choice for long term use with chronic issues to this area of the body.

There are so many amazing benefits of goldenrod and here are just a few: antifungal, diuretic, diaphoretic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, astringent, antiseptic, and carminative. Preparations of goldenrod include tea, tincture, infused oil, poultice, and powder. The infused oil of goldenrod is an excellent choice for healing wounds as well as burns. When goldenrod is brewed as a tea it works wonders as an expectorant to get mucus out of your lungs as well as it opens your skin's pores to cause you to sweat out fevers as well. It helps to push the illness or toxins out of your system through your skin pores as well as coughing them out of your lungs.

Goldenrod also contains rutin in it which is a very strong flavonoid. It can strengthen the cardiovascular system and supports circulation throughout the body. As an antifungal, goldenrod has saponins within the flowers and leaves and is a useful alternative for Candida type yeast infections. When brewed as a tea and either drank or used as a cleansing wash. Goldenrod is a wonderful decongestant, effectively alleviating upper respiratory congestion stemming from allergies, sinusitis, flu, or the common cold. It can be taken as a tea, syrup, or tincture for this purpose. It is one of the strongest herbs for drying the sinuses also one has to be careful not to completely dry out your sinuses which can cause health issues as well. Have to have a balance in your sinuses.

Dosage For Tea

1 tsp. Goldenrod
1 cup of boiling water

Steep for 10 minutes. Enjoy plain or with local honey.

This is just a few of the many amazing healing benefits of using goldenrod. There is plenty more research and information out there so that you can do your own research on it as well.

Hope this video encourages you as well to grow and make your own goldenrod tea. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below and I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a beautiful blessed day.

Blessings,
Teresa
