On Wednesday 17th May 2023,
On Wednesday 17th May 2023, Saphos Trains' "The Fellsman" was operated from Crewe to Carlisle and return by 46100 Royal Scot.
In each direction she ran by the Settle and Carlisle line on a breezy but beautiful day.
She arrived in Carlisle some 12 minutes late with persistent loud noises coming from her Automatic Warning System - a worrying scenario - would she be allowed to operate the return journey?
Whatever the fault, it seems to have been rectified and the Scot made a lively, slippy departure on time.
