In May 1998,  armed forces of Eritrea entered the disputed region of Badme, then under the control of Ethiopia. Surprised Ethiopians  needed some time to organize their defense . The first phase of the war lasted until mid-June 1998. Both sides used aircraft types available before the war. MiG-21 and MG-23BN by Ethiopia and Aermacchi MB-339 by Eritrea. When fighting restarted in February 1999, both sides had far more advanced aircraft in their arsenal. Ethiopia purchased Su-27  and Eritrea MiG-29. These two types would eventually meet each other in combat.
This is part 1 of the video covering the so called Badme War between Ethiopia and Eritrea using DCS World as the reenactment platform.
