It was an ugly one,
It was an ugly one, but the Bears went into Minnesota and pulled off a 12-10 win thanks to 4 Cairo Santos field goals – and 4 interceptions of Josh Dobbs.
For Chicago and Justin Fields…while this was far from a masterpiece, they’ve been playing better of late. They’re 2-and-2 in Fields’ last 4 games…with both losses coming in one possession games. And they did set the tone early last night…with Justin going 12-for-12 in the 1st quarter and the Bears offense holding the ball for nearly 15 of the first 17 minutes.
DJ Moore continues to shine, he up 114 yards and has averaged 99 yards per game this year when Fields has been under center. It’s always nice when you can stick it to a division rival…and they really did deal Minnesota’s playoff chances a serious blow.
The Vikings are now just a half game up on the Packers, Rams, and Saints for the final Wild card spot in the NFC. Things seemed like they were going to be really boring in the NFC playoff chase a few weeks ago – especially when you compare it to what’s going on in the AFC – but they have suddenly gotten really interesting thanks to Green Bay and LA stringing some wins together and the Vikings and Seahawks going through some struggles.
And for the Vikings to turn this thing around…the question once again is about Josh Dobbs. Because after that hot start to this stint in Minnesota – last night brought some serious reasons for concern.
They’ve been able to stay competitive because he hasn’t made mistakes…you’re not beating anyone when you throw 4 interceptions. The Vikings have a bye week here to try to settle things down, and it seems like there’s a good chance they have Justin Jefferson back on the other side of that as well.
So there is some reason for optimism and the Vikings are still favored to get in at -122 on FanDuel Sportsbook…but this schedule is not going to make things easy.
Two road games against teams that are in a pretty similar spot to them with the Raiders and Bengals. And then Lions, Packers, Lions to close things out. Woof. I really think this NFC Wild card race is going to come down to the wire.
