Growing up in Hollywood while still having to go to school and working can be tricky. What if your parents were big stars like John Wayne or Roy Rogers? How would other school kids treat you? What if you were working in movies or TV shows and had to take classes? Would you learn anything? Find out from a terrific panel of adults who grew up in those situations in this exclusive episode of A WORD ON WESTERNS, Part 1 of 2.
During the annual Lone Pine Film Festival in October 2021, a group who had grown up in Hollywood joined producer and host Rob Word to share memories. The panel included John Wayne’s son, actor Patrick Wayne, Roy Rogers’ daughter, Cheryl, Academy Award winning actor Claude Jarman, Jr., TV’S Israel Boone from DANIEL BOONE, Darby Hinton and, part of the Carradine acting family, Robert Carradine. They all had a variety of experiences going to school and being on location. Find out what it was like as they recall their childhood for an audience of film fans.
