Adobe Audition CC 2020: Scrubbing Audio
This tutorial will teach you how to turn on & off playback while scrubbing in both the Waveform View & Multitrack of Adobe Audition CC 2020.

What is Scrubbing?
To scrub audio is when you take the playhead and drag it across an audio clip.
You typically hear the audio when you drag the playhead or scrub. It may sound like ‘Alvin & the Chipmunks’ depending on how fast you scrub.

- Do you ever wish you could keep it silent while scrubbing through audio while making tutorial or doing a livestream or webinar?
- Do you ever find it distracting when scrubbing audio and could use some more silence when editing your podcast?
- There is a setting if you ever want to silence playback of audio  while scrubbing
- This setting is in Adobe Audition…Preferences…Playback & Recording

How to Turn On or Off Playback of Audio While Scrubbing:
1. Go to the top menu bar and click on Audition
2. Click on ‘Preferences’
3. Click on ‘Playback & Recording’
4. Uncheck ‘Play Audio While Scrubbing’ for silence when scrubbing
5. Check ‘Play Audio While Scrubbing’ to hear audio when scrubbing
6. Click ‘OK’ to save Preferences
