Cox 09 Engine Run Up - The most exciting engine video you will see today.

This new-to-me engine was an eBay buy over the last year. I am taking the time to get a few of the many engines I have acquired up and running. This engine or an identical mate I have to run in (both are used engines) will end up as the initial engine for Junior Ringmaster. The original engine on that eBay buy was a McCoy .19 Redhead Lightning Bolt which I was advised might be quite a bit overpowering for the plane. Hope to get the engine mounted and a test flight in through next week.

I'll mention my setup because I think I have a great bunch of pieces together that make the engine testing task very easy. about 14 months ago I bought a Ron Sexton engine test stand. I want to do a separate video just on that, soon. But the test stand claims to handle up to the Zenoah G38 I have waiting in the wings. The test stand was not all I needed - from craigslist I bought a Black and Decker Work Mate that was in very good condition for half of what a new one would cost. An adapter had to be made to clamp the engine test stand in the jaws of the Work Mate. I took a holder I had out of 2x4's for my Ringmaster Junior, flipped it over, and screwed the DS engine test stand to it. Now, with just two sheetrock screws I can add or remove the adapter, as I need the "adapter" to run up the engine mounted on the Ringmaster Jr.

The test stand has allowed me to flip through engines very quickly - getting a few tested in each session. We all know how valuable time is, right?
