The Alar Auto-Vac filter technology
The Alar Auto-Vac filter technology is an excellent dewatering system for managing oilfield wastewater. It is best served at oilfield disposal and recovery facilities that receive reserve pit cleanup, DAF sludge, tank bottoms, and water-based drilling fluids.
Large particles, cuttings and debris are removed through screening and shaker devices. The mud is either sent to the Auto-Vac (as seen in this video), or pumped into a centrifuge.
The combination of centrifuge and Auto-Vac works well in that the centrifuge pulls out the heavy solids, and the Auto-Vac cleans the water. The cake from the Auto-Vac is typically dry enough to replace the fly ash used for soaking up wet centrifuge solids.
The effluent from the Auto-Vac sometimes contains a recoverable oil condensate. Most of the time it is pumped to a non-potable water tank or sent through a desalinization system.
