Classical Mechanics - Small Oscillations : Normal Modes and Normal Coordinates -2

Taking the problem of two coupled oscillators, the concept of normal modes and the normal coordinates have been developed. The two equations of motion for a two coupled oscillators are coupled differential equations of second order. On decoupling these equations we get two uncoupled equations, each of which represents a simple harmonic motion of single frequency. These are called the two normal modes of vibration and the coordinates describing these simple harmonic motions are called normal coordinates.
