West Seattle High School students say bathroom conditions make some unusable

Some students are struggling to find relief with the restrooms at West Seattle High School, saying they are in such bad shape that they are reluctant to use them.

Graffiti, vandalism, and loitering have created privacy concerns for some students. A few told KOMO News they will often wait until they get home rather than enter a stall on campus, which can lead to inconvenience and sometimes discomfort.

Students said the damage is primarily done by their own classmates, and restrooms have had stall doors or walls ripped off and then remain that way for weeks at a time.

A spokesperson for Seattle Public Schools said they are in the process of repainting and repairing one heavily damaged restroom that is depicted in an image that is circulating on social media and is also included in this report.
