On September 23rd. BBC Two designated Korean word “Kkondae” as the word of the day.
KKondae refers to people who are bossy and who always think they are right. It’s originated from South Korea. At first, it only indicated people who are old but nowadays KKondae also includes people who are narrow minded. They don’t accept any criticism from others, and they always think they are right.
KKondae loves to force their thinking to others and judge other’s look, style, hobby, and even their facial expression, etc.
The reason why conception of KKondae is usually for the elder people is based on Korea’s organizational culture. Because of the seniority system, they think boss commands and others have to discipline and follow them unconditionally.
