After suffering from an extremely swollen leg, this patient's toes have started to turn black and showing signs of gangrene.
Lack of blood circulation to tissue can cause it to die. The tissue turns black and can continue to spread if circulation is not improved in the area.
I am really concerned for this patient and following up with him regularly. He is waiting to have a surgery performed to improve the circulation of his right leg which will help minimize the change of a possible amputation of his toes, foot or even leg.
